Sweet Love.

Ryan and I were very excited to be able to celebrate our anniversary by going on a cruise.  For work reasons we pushed the cruise to a couple weeks after our anniversary and it worked out really great.  We had a wonderful time,  and I am so happy I was able to go with my sweet husband.  Neither of us knew what to expect but it exceeded most of our expectations.
Just boarded and ready to sail away.

Our first destination was Nassau.  We spent the morning shopping around, checking out touristy shops and of course the Cariloha and Del Sol stores.  When noon came we decided to head back to the ship to grab some lunch and drop off a couple of our purchases.  When we got back off the ship it started to rain-and it only got worse.  Before we knew it we were walking in a down poor.  We were trying to be optimistic still because we were somewhere we've never been before.  A local told us how to get to the nearest beach and when we arrived we were sorely disappointed. It was TRASH-literally there was trash everywhere, glass, panties, food.  It was disgusting.  That's when we learned- always follow the other tourist and get in a taxi and have them take you to the "nice beach".  We took shelter under a local hotel until the rain stopped.  We then waved down a taxi and he took us the Atlantis beach.  Which was beautiful and perfect.  We were so happy to finally be there with the sunshine out.  A lot of locals were out trying to get all the tourist to do the activities they offered such as scuba diving, wave runners, canoes.  Unfortunately we were out of cash for the day so we spent our time playing in the sand and water. Which was really lovely.

Welcome to the Bahamas Porters!

Cute little Jamaicans jamming.

wow.
I just love all the color.
cheeeeese!

Bummer- rain and trashy beach.

soaked!
staying optimistic!

Finally in the water.

sad to leave.

Good Bye Nassau.

Freeport was our next destination- and it was my favorite one.  Everything seemed much more vibrant, happy, and secure.  We again spent the morning shopping around town.  We found a really awesome guy who had set up a table where he was selling tiki heads, signs, knifes, swords, you name it.  We found the perfect suviner finally! He was sitting there carving them for every one to see out of local trees. We feel in love and bought our own tiki man. After visiting a couple more stores and of course the Cariloha and Del Sol there (we like to see all the stores) we headed back to the ship to again drop off items and eat lunch.  We hurried so that we could head to a taxi and spend more time at the beach then the previous day.  We went to a beach called Paradise Cove-and it was paradise.  It was beautiful and less overwhelming then Atlantis.  People weren't ambushing us to do their activities.  We decided to do snorkeling however the list was so long that we decided to go kayaking instead.  It was a blast! I loved every minute of it-  It started to get really windy though so we headed back to shore and relaxed.  We even were able to try konch fritters- which if you ever get the change, TRY THEM.  They are actually really good. I only had a bit because I was pretty sure they weren't gluten free, but Ryan really enjoyed them.

Hello Freeport!
Who is that handsome fellow?

Lookin mighty fine today!

going to work-but not really. ;)

We bought Roan a cool knife for Christmas... ssshhh.
It says Bahamas on one side and Roan on the other. So cool.
Also this is the guy we bought our cool tiki head from.

Our tiki head- he stands for wisdom, wealth, and power.

oh boy!

So many photo bombs but look how pretty the water is!

pulled from the ocean from a scuba diver- she gave me one because she had a ton!

creepy little lizards EVERYWHERE!
Goodbye Freeport.
Just outside of Freeport.

The Cruise itself was really enjoyable as well.  I was really fortunate to have a caring hostess who sat down with me every night and let me pick out meals for the next day so that they could make them gluten free for me.  First time I've had chocolate cake, mac n cheese, and cheesecake sense the news about the allergy. We spent our time on the ship exploring, playing ping pong, laying in the sun, reading, we went to a comedy show, and took advantage of the unlimited froyo and ice cream.  The food was outstanding- we each gained weight from all the eating we did.  It was worth it. (;
