Alcatraz

I finally got to see Alcatraz, Ryan had been before about 8 years ago and really enjoyed it.  I've always been intrigued by Alcatraz and its history so I knew that would be one of the first things we would do once we got to San Francisco.

We probably could have picked a better day to go, every day before we went was sunshine cloud free and the day we went was rainy and cloudy lots of fog. And of course the following day it was clear skies again. But its ok (: we had fun regardless!

This was the Quartermaster warehouse and power plant.

We did a narrated tour and listened to these 8 men, 4 inmates and 4 officers.

each inmate had a rule book of guidelines and regulations.

Something that i thought was really cool is all the rooms or halls had names. This was Times Square.

These were 42 of the worse rooms.  You got sent here if you were extra bad, solitary confinement for 7 of the stales. It was interesting that the rooms for the extra bad people were much nicer then the other rooms and a lot bigger.

One day in Alcatraz there was an attack, inmates attacked officers and tried to escape.

In memory of one of the officers shot. this was the cell he died in.

Inmates spent their time learning to knit, or paint, play instruments.
