Compassion

This past week on Dec. 14 a tragedy took place in Connecticut.  A man went into an elementary school and shot and killed 26 adults and children, 28 including his mother that he shot at their home, and himself.  6 adults, teachers protecting their children, and 20 1st grade children.  Hearing this news broke my heart, all i could think about was my sweet little brother in elementary right now.  I could only think about the lose and heartache these poor families had to endure so close to Christmas.  I have been so saddened after it took place because of how terrifying it would be to have to handle such a situation.  Ryan and I have praying for the little town almost every day.  This is the second deadliest shooting, following columbine where 33 people were killed.  Which was a tragedy as well, but it really hit everyone that someone would do this to such innocent little kids.
A memorial fund has been open for at least one of the children here in Utah, her family had recently moved to Connecticut.  The compassion and love people have for this family is remarkable, I have been doing deposit after deposit for this little girl from amounts varying of $50 to $1000.  In the midst of such sadness the charity people are willing to bring forth is so heart warming.  It astounds me at the love people could have for someone that they didn't know.
Its an in interesting world we live in, to have people who are so selfish to take away the lives that don't belong to them, as well as to have people that have so much love.
I know that money and the charity that will continue to be given to these heartbroken families wont make up for anything that has happened, but i can only realize that the love they are receiving helps a little.
I am so thankful for the good people in the world, the ones that are willing to give up the extra money they would use for Christmas to put forth towards a family burying their child.
There was a lot of shootings this year, and each of them have been terrible and gut wrenching, but this one affected everyone so deeply.
