travel bugs!

Agenda- January 5, drive to Covington GA and stay the night.
January 6, drive to New Orleans LA to stay.
January 7, New Orleans all day!!
January 8, Drive to Woodlands TX to stay.
              January 9, Woodlands all day!!
January 10, Drive to Albuquerque NM.
              January 11, Drive to Layton!!!!

Honestly our trip across the country went so well! We had so much fun and really enjoyed all of our destinations.  The only bad day was our drive to Albuquerque it was 14 hours and just the worst thing ever.  Nothing to look at. We saw Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas, and New Mexico.

Covington was as great as ever, not much was happening but mostly we wanted to go see it all again before we left.  We thought we might not be back considering Vampire Diaries was the only thing that could probably get us back there.  But we found out while we were there that they are going to start doing Hunger Games tours soon so... the Porters will most likely be back in Georgia. :)

New Orleans, we had a blast!! Lots of walking, cold air, and beignets. While we were there we were able to eat at cafe du monde which was the first coffee place established in New Orleans and they make amazing beignets (french doughnuts).  We walked up and down the French Quarter which was a lot of fun.  We ate at Manning's (Payton Manning and his brothers and dads restaurant) One of the cooler things we did was go to the Louisiana State museum where most of it was dedicated to Hurricane Katrina.  They had so many artifacts and information, we couldn't believe how terrible it all was.  We knew what happened to an extent but we were still so young that we didn't know the depths.   We also went to go see the Six Flags of New Orleans, I read an article that it is ranked as one of the spookiest/haunted places in the US.  After the hurricane it was never able to re open.
It was so sad  there were parts that were even still flooded.  Computers and registers everywhere.  Looking into rides with all the seats waiting to be filled.  So creepy and just really sad.  A lot of the area we drove through to get there was still really beaten up from the storm as well.

Woodlands-  We had a really great stay with Kristi and the girls.  We spent a lot of time just hanging out and talking.  We spent one day shopping around town and showing Ryan the cool malls.  It was just nice to see them and catch up.
We weren't smart and didn't take a picture when we were all cute earlier in the day.

From there nothing to excited happened, a lot of car sickness, boredom and silliness.  We were so excited to finally get to Utah eat at our favorite places and relax.
