Mothers Day was this week. We weren't able to spend time with our mothers but were able to send them messages to let them know they were on our mind and that we would see them soon. I was happy to be able to say that we wouldn't mail them a package but deliver it ourselves... Time is coming to an end.
Mothers Day had me thinking obviously about my mom. Growing up she always said, family is what matters in the end. These friends wont be around forever like us. ETC. And I always thought that she was just saying that to be annoying. But its the pure truth. The older I've become the more valuable I have realized my family is. My mother is so unique. Miss is such a special and wonderful person. When I look back on my life and see the love she has always had for me even when I wasn't hers for the first couple years of my life just reminds me how lucky I really got. No one knows how to LOVE someone as much as she does. I think she shows it differently but she is the perfect example of how to love children and her husband. She could not have been a better role model, friend, and care giver. Even if we weren't on the best of terms no matter what boy drama I had she would rent me a chick flick, buy me flowers or reach out to me in some way. When I got good grades she ALWAYS took me to get my nails done. When I started going to church she influenced me to do it with my whole heart. Honestly, I don't think I was the perfect daughter, I am flawed and really weird. But she taught me the most important things in life, to love, to forgive those that hurt us, and to always work hard.
I have been fortunate to be blessed with a new mother in law as well. Donna has taught me a few things as well. She dedicates her whole life to her church callings when she has one. I find that really admirable. She has such a love for children that aren't even hers. She will make a wonderful grandmother some day. And even though I haven't known her long, she has always showed love and friendship towards me, which I really appreciate. I will always be thankful for her raising my wonderful husband. He would not be the man he is with out her as his mother.
I am thankful for all mothers though, it was really inspiring to see everyone speak so highly of their mother on Facebook this last Sunday. That it was just a reminder how big of a blessing each mother is in everyone's life.
